As a private cello teacher in San Diego, Daniel coaches beginners through college graduates. His students regularly win local competitions including the San Diego Cello Society’s Young Cellist Competition and MTAC’s VOCE, perform with local orchestras, and have earned merit scholarships to such programs as Crossroads School, Center Stage Strings, Aspen Music Festival, and many university music programs throughout the country.
Holding a bachelor degree and graduate certificate from the University of Southern California, and master's from California State University Northridge, Daniel has studied under the nation's finest teachers including Rachael Lonergan, Andrew Cook, Dr. Richard Naill, Ronald Leonard, Eleonore Schoenfeld, Alexander Suleiman, and Diane Roscetti. At USC during his three semester long tenure as cellist in the Midori Chamber Music Seminar, Daniel performed string quartets with concert artist Midori Goto, and violinist Brendan Speltz, currently a member of Escher Quartet.
In summer of 2014, Daniel was on the cello faculty at Luzerne Music Center in upstate New York. There, he performed chamber music with principal players of the Sarasota Orchestra, soloist and Luzerne Music Center president Elizabeth Pitcairn, and assistant concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic Michelle Kim.
As an active performer throughout southern California, Daniel is principal cellist of the Poway Symphony Orchestra, has subbed with the San Diego Symphony, is a founding member of the Leucadia Trio and more recently Trio Aquarelle, and can also be heard appearing in Candlelight concerts on the USS Midway with the Listeso Quartet, in recital, and as a soloist with community orchestras in LA and San Diego.
In his free time Daniel enjoys exploring the Southern California Coastline in pursuit of uncrowded waves, sometimes taking one of his cello students along with him.
